Solite and Solar
Written by Ryan
In 2021, Solite made the strategic decision to integrate solar panels onto the roof of its Stockport facility. Leveraging the longstanding collaborative partnership between the FW Thorpe group and Ineco Energy, which had previously provided solutions for various facilities within the group, Ineco Energy was entrusted with the task of conceiving and implementing the solar system. Remarkably, Ineco Energy successfully installed a 106 kWp solar system on the facility’s roof, and it became operational in May 2021.
While the winter months present certain challenges for solar energy generation, typically yielding 10-20% of Solite’s energy requirements, the summer months more than compensate for these variations. During peak summer months, the solar system is capable of satisfying a substantial 70%+ of the company’s energy needs directly from the roof.
Consequently, the cumulative result is that an average of 44.6% of Solite’s annual electricity consumption has been self-generated to date, however 100% of our energy comes from renewable sources.
To further maximize the utilisation of the solar system, Solite has taken an innovative step by incorporating RatioEV’s Passway bollards. This integration enables the company to harness its self-generated power for charging its electric company cars.
